Compliance Testing and Certification

Hot Water/Solar Hot Water Unit Servicing

It is important to inspect your solar hot water system every year. Inspections consist of pressure testing the tank to check for small holes, removing any dirt from the surface of the panels, a check or replacement of the various valves and emptying and cleaning out the tank.

O'Neill and Brown Plumbing Service's (ONBPS) solar experts have years of experience in diagnosing and fixing problems an efficient time frame.

Eye Wash Bay/Shower

The function of the safety shower/eye wash units is required where contaminates may be used in an area and requires immediate decontamination from a person’s skin, eyes and face.

We recommend a maintenance schedule in place to ensure a high quality system is met required safety standards.

It is a WHS requirement (AS4775) that a 6 monthly inspection and testing of your system take place to ensure a trouble free operation.

Thermostat Mixing Valve (TMV) Testing

Every year, thousands of people suffer serious shock or scalding injuries in their bathtubs, sinks and showers. Additional untold numbers become ill due to water-borne bacteria, such as Legionella. Often, injuries in the shower are caused by slips and falls in reaction to a sudden increase or decrease in water temperature. Ideally, if the supply of hot or cold water is lost, the water flow should be shut down immediately.

Backflow Prevention Test and Certification

Backflow is a term used to describe a situation in which potentially contaminated water flows in the opposite direction to that intended and enters the drinking water supply. A drop in supply pressure normally causes backflow, creating a negative pressure in the water supply system. This allows contaminated liquid to be siphoned into the drinking water via a cross-contamination. The consequences of backflow range from being a nuisance to the very serious, even to the extent of causing death of an unsuspected person drinking from the contaminated water supply.

Fire Hose Reel and Hydrant Inspection and Certification

Fire hose reels are the first attack fire equipment used to supplement fire extinguishers. Regulations typically only require fire hose reels to be installed in buildings greater than 500 square meters.

Once installed fire hose reels are required to be regularly maintained as per AS/NZS1851.   The minimum maintenance requirements as documented in ACT legislation and regulations are:

Jet Cleaning of Stormwater/Sewerage Branch

Assessing and improving overall storm water quality, collecting and retaining debris and pollutants is dependent on regular maintenance of specified drains. Utilising O’Neill and Brown Plumbing’s expertise and a variety of techniques including CCTV scanning with jet cleaning and vacuum removal can renew the drains functionality.

By assessing the quality of GPT’s on a regular basis, we can ensure your drains are effectively managed and controlled.

Tempering Valve Inspection and Testing

Installation of a tempering valve prevents scalding injuries and maintains safe water temperatures. The tempering valve is the most common way of regulating the maximum hot water temperature and does so by mixing hot water with cold water in showers, bathtubs, and bathroom sinks to safe temperatures.

Ensuring safe hot water temperatures in your property is the duty-of-care of the property owner and its management.
